14th Annual Island Harvest Golf Classic Honoring Tariq Khan
June 11, 2010
(Mineola, N.Y.)-Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization, will once again host its Annual Golf Classic at one of the region’s premier golf courses, The Creek Club in Locust Valley. To be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010, the Island Harvest 14th Annual Golf Classic will honor Long Island businessman and Island Harvest board member, Tariq Kahn, owner of five successful 7-Eleven franchises and several gasoline retail operations across Long Island. Proceeds from the event will help support Island Harvest’s mission in ending hunger and reducing food waste on Long Island.
“Tariq Khan’s connection to Island Harvest is very special,” explains Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO, Island Harvest. “In addition to his many years of service to the organization, it was at his 7-Eleven franchise in Rockville Centre where, in 1992, Linda Breitstone first started Island Harvest by transporting “rescued” food to a nearby women’s shelter.”
The Classic will begin at 10:30 a.m. with brunch and registration, followed by a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start and will conclude with a highly popular beach party and awards celebration at 5:30 p.m. Golf registration including the beach party is $750.00 per player, $3,000.00 for a foursome. To attend just the beach party at 5:30 p.m., tickets are $150.00 per person. As in the past, there will be some great prizes to be auctioned off at the beach party including a round of golf at some of the area’s most exclusive courses, NY-area sports teams’ memorabilia and sporting event tickets, gift certificates from some of LI’s leading restaurants, vacation trips, great merchandise and much more.
