veterans_hannon.jpg(Massapequa, N.Y.)-Veterans from all over the Sixth District of New York turned out for Senator Kemp Hannon’s free pancake breakfast, held at American Legion Post #1066 in Massapequa as a tribute and thank you to all of the brave Americans who fought for our freedom.

“The best part of the breakfast for me was the opportunity to personally thank everyone and hear all of the stories,” said Senator Hannon. “There are some lessons and truths you just won’t gain from a history book,” Hannon continued.

During the breakfast, Senator Hannon presented a special State Certificate of Recognition to Fred Baldi, an army medic, who landed on Utah Beach during Operation Overlord on D-Day. Meanwhile, Thomas Buquicchio, Private First Class of the Fourth Infantry Division, called out “Hey! I was on that beach too!” and met is comrade for the very first time. The entire room gave the two men a standing ovation as they embraced one another.

Senator Hannon will proudly hold two more pancake breakfasts for veterans. Details to come! To view a calendar of other upcoming community events, remember to visit www.kemphannon.com or call the Community Office at 516-739-1700.
