image001.jpg(Island Park, N.Y.)—Students at Long Beach Catholic Regional School are learning about harnessing the awesome power of the sun not from textbooks but from under the lights in their classrooms. EmPower Solar Energy Solutions (www.empowerces.com), a leading solar energy company, recently completed the installation of 100 solar panels at the school, which will produce 32,024 kilowatt hours of electricity.

With their classrooms powered by the sun, Long Beach Catholic Regional School students already know about its great energy potential and recently learned more about other forms of renewable energy such as wind, hydroelectric and geothermal, as EmPower presented a lesson to the students.  Robin Broder from EmPower addressed the students, who were then given a live demonstration of the sun’s power by operating a solar-powered toy car. They also saw a solar panel similar to ones that are now helping power their school.

“The students’ understanding of environmental problems was amazing and their excitement about the solutions even more so,” said Robin Broder, marketing coordinator, EmPower Solar Energy Solutions. “They’re learning firsthand on their own that they have the power to make positive changes in their homes and communities.”
