radio_airwaves.jpg(Long Island, N.Y.)-88.7 FM WRHU’s Basia Sydlowski and Brian Simpson recently invited Senator Kemp Hannon to be a guest on their award winning radio show Long Island Community Spotlight to discuss the Senator’s cyberbullying legislation.

“I have a 6-year-old granddaughter and I worry that she could potentially be cyberbullied,” said Sydlowski to Senator Hannon. “It’s so important to spread awareness and get parents involved,” Sydlowski continued.

Senator Hannon has been traveling around Long Island in an effort to educate the community on both the prevalence and dangers of cyberbullying.  “This type of bullying is so vicious because it’s inescapable,” said Hannon. “It follows kids home from school on their laptop and cell phones 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” Hannon continued.

During the WRHU interview, the Senator discusses the importance of his proposed cyberbullying legislation, which would prohibit bullying and cyberbullying on school property and establish a statewide central registry for bullying, cyberbullying and hazing complaints.

You can tune in to the award winning Long Island Community Spotlight every Monday at 6 p.m. on 88.7 F.M. WRHU.  For more information on cyberbullying, visit www.kemphannon.com .
