Attorney Gary Fischoff of East Hills Named Nassau Bar Associations Pro Bono Attorney for April 2010

(Mineola, N.Y.)-Since the current economic difficulties began, Gary C. Fischoff of East Hills Pro Bono Attorney of the Month for April 2010, has been very active in his private practice helping distressed homeowners in foreclosure cases. But that has not lessened his commitment to the growing number of Nassau citizens facing bankruptcy. For his more than 164 hours of pro bono service, Nassau County Bar Association President Emily F. Franchina has named him Pro Bono Attorney of the Month for April 2010.

A partner in the firm of Steinberg, Fineo, Berger & Fischoff of Woodbury, he has been practicing bankruptcy and real estate law for 25 years and was one of the first area attorneys to be certified in business and consumer bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. He is a founding member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the leading national organization dedicated to protecting the rights of consumer debtors.

Fischoff is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned his J.D. degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 1983. He is a member of the bar of the States of New York and New Jersey and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern, Northern, and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. A member of the Nassau County Bar Association, he was named Pro Bono Attorney of the Month in March 1998 as well as in October 2005.
