March 26, 2010
(North Bellport, N.Y.)-Volunteers from Long Island Methodist churches, Citi and Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk will gather this morning at 10 a.m. to dedicate a new home at 909 Doane Ave., North Bellport. Jessica Saenz, Eugene Maney and their two children, Angelique, age 10, and Adrian, age 7 will be presented with the keys to their new home during an emotional ceremony.
More than 50 Long Island Methodist Churches contributed funds and volunteers to build this home through the participation of the Long Island East District’s Methodist Churches. Citi also provided funds and volunteers to build this home. Construction began in September of 2009. This morning many of the volunteers who participated in its construction will be present to share in the celebration. Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Mark Lesko is expected to attend.
Jessica Saenz is a hard working mother who was selected for Habitat home ownership in June 2009. Jessica works two jobs as a case worker for the Family Service League and a night counselor at Transition Services of Long Island. Jessica and Eugene and their two children will relocate from a cramped apartment in Farmingville to a new three-bedroom Habitat home in North Bellport.
Jessica says they are “thankful that our children will grow up in a home and we will continue to do whatever is necessary to ensure our children grow up under different circumstances than ours.” The house will be their first experience in home ownership.
Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry dedicated to building decent, affordable housing in partnership with low-income working families in Suffolk County.
