floral_pastels.jpg(Southampton, N.Y.)–Acclaimed painter Dora Frost whose lush botanical paintings are highly prized by numerous prominent collectors in New York, Palm Beach and The Hamptons will have a rare showing of her newest works at Chelsea’s 2/20 Gallery,

220 West 16th Street. Opening reception with the artist is April 20 from 6pm to 8pm.

Ms. Frost’s large pastels with gold and silver paint belonging to the Peonies Series include both realist and abstract floral images. The method applied in executing these brilliant colored compositions is one that “uses exactly what is front of me,” Frost notes, and goes on to say “I’m trying not to get myself involved in it at all.” Like the French Impressionists, Frost reveals how in objectivity and direct response, in the willingness to be “an eye”, lie the secret to capturing the abiding truths of nature’s beauty. Her work has been shown in a number of prestigious galleries including Elaine Benson, Spanierman and Tower Galleries in the Hamptons ; Lever House in New York City and James Hunt Barker Galleries and Palm Street Art in Palm Beach.

Author and Vogue Contributing Editor and Columnist William Norwich, an admirer and collector of Ms. Frost’s work will host the opening reception on April 20.
