High School Students Take On International Affairs On MSG Varsity Model UN

(Bethpage,N.Y.)–MSG Varsity and the Institute of Domestic and International Affairs have teamed up to present Model UN, a United Nations simulation conference that engages high school students in intense debate with their peers about important and complex international issues. The documentary based reality series will follow four tri-state high school teams as they prepare and participate in the Philadelphia Model United Nations (PhilMUN). MSG Varsity will air two half-hour shows and a one-hour finale – the first episode premieres Sunday, March 14th at 8:00 pm on Cablevision’s iO TV (Channel 14).
PhilMUN is a four-day United Nations simulation conference where students work together to learn the intricacies of national policies and examine the impact that a state has on global affairs. Some of the issues discussed during this conference include: strengthening governance in the Middle East, border security, urbanization, public health in refugee camps, and rights of minority populations.
Model UN will also feature six students throughout the series — sharing their stories and showing the pressure-packed world of mock international politics and debate from their perspective and experiences.

MSG Varsity’s Model UN is produced by Ace-Award winning and Emmy-nominated producer Martin Ehrlich and Emmy award winning Blink Productions. Colin Cossel, sports journalist, grandson of Howard Cossel and former Model UN high school participant, will narrate the series.
