IABC-LI Announces Call For Nominations For 2010 Communications Awards

(Plainview,N.Y.)-The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) – Long Island chapter is now accepting nominations for its annual Achievement in Communications awards program, recognizing and rewarding outstanding communicators from the Long Island business community in three categories. In addition to the annual Long Island Achievement in Communications Award, which honors an exemplary individual who serves as a professional role model, the chapter has two additional awards.
The second annual IABC-LI Community Service Award will be given to a professional communicator who donates his or her talents and expertise to a local non-profit organization. The chapter’s Student Achievement Award will honor an outstanding student or intern who combines academic achievement with a talent for and commitment to the communications profession. In addition, IABC-LI will also honor an outstanding member who has worked exceptionally in service of the chapter.
“IABC-LI is dedicated to advancing the professional practice of communications, in all its many forms. During our annual awards program, we recognize and pay tribute to those individuals who have upheld our mission by demonstrating excellence in our field,” said Maripat Quinn, Chair of the 2010 Awards Committee, who holds a Ph.D. in cross-cultural communications, runs a small international consulting company and markets properties for Coach Realtors. Also serving on the committee are Roger Drake, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications, Morton’s Restaurant Group, Inc., Tina Panos, President, Panos Graphic Services, Susan Vassarello, VP, Corporate Communications, Henry Schein, Inc., and Erin Spittle, Manager, Corporate Communications, Henry Schein, Inc.
Nominations will be judged by a distinguished panel of professional communicators from business and academia. The 2010 judging panel will include:
Laura Wiletsky, President, Laura Wiletsky & Associates
Larry Drago, Marketing Professional
Andrew J. Weinberg, CPSM, Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager
Langan Engineering & Environmental Services
Awards will be presented on June 15th, at the chapter’s final luncheon meeting of the 2009-2010 program year.
Nominations are now being accepted online at http://iabc-li.org/2010Awards.asp. The deadline for submission is March 31, 2010.
