(Hamptons,N.Y.)-The Hamptons International Film Festival is happy to announce that films shown at this past October’s festival received a total of 17 Oscar Nominations. Following last year’s Awards success of 15 nominations, this year’s increase to 17 nominations includes a number of high profile awards contenders. The total of 17 nominations garnered this year are the largest the festival has received throughout its 17 years.

In one year we have made the Festival a relevant player in the academy race. The studios are already calling to inquire about the 2010 Festival. “We are so happy to see that the Academy recognized these films,” stated Director of Programming David Nugent. “We continue to strive to bring the best films possible to our audiences in the Hampton’s and are additionally proud of the fact that a number of these films (HIFF Audience Award Winner THE YOUNG VICTORIA, HIFF Closing Night Film THE IMAGINARIUM OF DR PARNASSUS, AJAMI) had their first ever screenings in America at the Hampton International Film Festival.” Please see below for a full list of nominations.
