Senator Hannon Announces Electronic Income Tax Filing

(New York,N.Y.)-Senator Kemp Hannon (6th Senate District) is alerting taxpayers of an efficient and free way to electronically file their 2010 personal income tax returns. According to the Department of Taxation and Finance, 95 percent of New York taxpayers are filing successfully without ever leaving their home computer.
So how do you e-file? Just visit http://www.irs.gov/ and click on “Free File” on the right-hand side of the screen. Have questions? Clicking on the “Filing and Payments” link in dark blue on the right-hand side of the IRS homepage will lead you to helpful information and a “Frequently Asked Questions” link. Additional information regarding the process of e-filing can be found at www.nystax.gov .
Beginning January 30, 2010, Senator Hannon encourages taxpayers to find out the amount of their 2009 New York State tax refund by visiting www.nystax.gov, to view their Statement for Receipt of State Income Tax Refunds (Form 1099G). You may also call 1-866-698-2946 or 518-485-0799 for telephone assistance on or after the January 30th date.
