(Deer Park,N.Y.)–This February, The Westminster Weekend Shows , will be hosting four days of family-friendly fun at Long Island’s own Nassau Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY.  The four-day event featuring 30 specialty dog shows runs from Thursday, February 11 through Sunday, February 14 2010. This annual event occurs the weekend before the coveted Westminster Kennel Club Show, hence the name The Westminster Weekend Shows. These dog shows offer the area’s best showcase of pedigreed dogs, vendors, and family fun since 2001.
 
This will be the first year that The Westminster Weekend Shows will be on Long Island.  With local vendors, as well as local dog clubs, the new location of the show will try to spark support for Long Island businesses while educating the community about pet care and showing some of he best dogs around.  
 
In addition to the Sporting, Hound & Terrier group shows, there will be 30 specialty shows and all breed obedience and rally trial.  This year’s family-friendly atmosphere features activities and shopping planned for dog lovers of all ages.   Vendors for pets and people, top dogs from around the country on their way to Westminster, meet the breeds and the breeders and fun demonstrations.  You can also watch live video feed worldwide of the show at http://www.westminsterweekenddogshows.com

    Looking forward to this show. Wow can’t wait to see the dogs…..love dog shows on tv. Never saw one in person.
