Diana Saltel of H2M Participates In The “Building In The 21st Century Symposium”

(Melville, N.Y.)–Diana M. Saltel, P.P., AICP, MCIP, Chief Planner at H2M, (photo left) a multi-disciplined Architectural, Engineering, Planning and Environmental service firm, recently participated in the 2nd Annual “Building in the 21st Century Symposium.” Ms. Saltel was one of the speakers along with several other industry experts and the New York State Lieutenant Governor Richard Ravitch, whom delivered the keynote speech.
The American Institute of Architects New York State (AIANYS), New York City Bar and Albany Law School sponsored the “Building in the 21st Century: Better, Cheaper, Faster and Sustainable,” symposium which was held at the Albany Law School. The program was designed to examine every aspect of putting together a public project and discuss options for reform. Some topics covered during the conference included the economics of construction, opportunities in modernizing public construction procurement and changes in the land use planning process.
In her speech, Diana Saltel, P.P., spoke about successful examples of sustainable regional planning projects that she directed in both New York and New Jersey. She covered a broad range of inter-municipal projects including: transportation and land use connection plans; tourism and economic development initiatives; waterfront planning; greenway connections; downtown improvement plans; housing initiatives and smart growth planning. Ms. Saltel, a resident of Mendham, NJ, has over 19 years of extensive experience working for a variety of municipal, county, not-for profit and private sector firms in both New York and New Jersey.
