November 25, 2009
(Melville, N.Y.) – For the third year in a row, H2M’s NY Office is the proud recipient of one of the Long Island Canstruction Awards: Most Cans (9,200). The team was led by Christopher Sagistano, a resident of Northport, NY and an architect at H2M, a multi-disciplined Architectural, Engineering, Planning and Environmental service firm. It took 11 ½ hours to build the entry that depicts a mountain climber “Rising Above Hunger” and reaching the top of the mountain.
Canstruction is a food drive that has been designed as competition amongst local architecture and engineering firms. Its focus is to create structures entirely out of canned food, give out awards for various competition categories and then donate all the cans to food banks.
