(Bethpage, N.Y.)- The Fair Media Council’s Connection Day on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Long Island Hilton will draw together about 100 reporters, editors, social media experts and communication professionals to present a variety of workshops to help businesses understand new and traditional news media to promote their organizations. Keynoting this year’s Connection Day is the Wall Street Journal and WCBS News Radio business reporter, Joe Connolly. Major sponsors are Astoria Federal Savings and Briarcliffe College.
Connolly, known for his creative business reports, has nearly 30 years of reporting experience and more than 2 million listeners a week.
“The Fair Media Council is pleased to feature Joe Connolly at this year’s Connection Day, where he’ll deliver a keynote address on what’s happening in the news today and take questions from the audience,” said Jaci Clement, executive director of the Fair Media Council. “With the economy on everybody’s mind right now, people are looking for someone to put information into perspective, which is what Joe does best.”
This year’s event will focus on how to properly use social media to increase business. The event features 22 workshops, an exhibition hall and networking breaks.
The Fair Media Council is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that advocates for quality local news coverage and educates the public to become media savvy. About 200 New York businesses are members of the 30-year-old organization.
