Information Session On Career Opportunities In Media At Adelphi University

(Garden City, N.Y.) Adelphi University*s Office of Alumni Relations is hosting a Careers in Media event on Thursday, April 23, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., in the Dance Theatre of the Performing Arts Center (AU PAC), 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The event is part of the Count on Alumni for Career Help (C.O.A.C.H.) program at Adelphi, which encourages alumni to speak with current students, recent graduates, and fellow alumni in transition about career options and job expectations in various professions. Speakers for this event include Gary Dell*Abate *83, producer of SIRIUS Satellite Radio; Peter Principato *87, partner of Principato-Young Entertainment; Christopher Saridakis *90, senior vice president and chief digital officer of Gannett Co.; Bill Stephney, president and founder of Joseph Media; and Bennett Zier *78, CEO of Air America Radio. This event is free and open to the public. A maximum of two tickets per person will be granted.

About the Speakers:

Gary Dell*Abate *83, well known as *Baba Booey,* has been a producer and contributor of the *Howard Stern Show* since 1984, which is broadcasted daily on SIRIUS Satellite Radio and on *Howard TV.* He has conducted interviews with such names as Arnold Schwartzenegger, Sting, Sylvester Stallone, and John F. Kennedy, Jr. An active member of LIFEbeat, The Music Industry Fights AIDS, an organization devoted to educating youth about HIV/AIDS prevention, Mr. Dell Abate regularly makes speaking engagements across the country for this cause.

Peter Principato *87 is a founding partner of Principato-Young Entertainment, a talent management production company that represents the comic talent behind such programs as *The Daily Show* and *Saturday Night Live,* as well as movies including *Superbad* and *Knocked Up.* Mr. Principato is also the co-executive producer of Comedy Central’s “Reno 911,” and has been an executive producer on the Fox series *Do Not Disturb,* the Starz series *Hollywood Residential,* the Oxygen Network’s *Campus Ladies* and the soon to be seen Spike series *Players.*

Christopher Saridakis *90 has held the position of senior vice president and chief digital officer for Gannett Co., Inc. since January 2008. He plays a vital role in the company*s market leading strategy and is chief architect in product development and cross-divisional partnerships. In 2005, he was appointed chief executive officer of PointRoll, and prior to that, Mr. Saridakis was senior vice president and general manager of the Global Tech Solutions division for DoubleClick, Inc.

Bill Stephney, president and founder of Joseph Media, is also a member of the New Jersey State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. His background includes civil rights and political advocacy while maintaining positions as the president of Def Jam and the co-founding of SOUL Recording in 1989. He has served on the board of directors for the Apollo Theater Foundation, the National Urban League, and the National Fatherhood Initiative. In 2006, Mr. Stephney was inducted into the Minority Media Telecommunications Hall of Fame.

Bennett Zier *78 was named chief executive officer of Air America Media in 2008, and continues to develop the brand through on-air, online, and video broadcasts. He is also director of Umansky, Wyatt, Zier (UWZ), a management and marketing firm he co-founded. Prior to UWZ, Mr. Zier was founding CEO of Red Zebra Broadcasting, home of the Washington Redskins Radio Network. He is widely recognized for his role in media, and also for his dedication to charities such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the National Kidney Foundation, and the Potomac Ridge Hospital Group.
