grandell_224.jpg (Long Beach, N.Y.) Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a leading skilled nursing care and rehabilitation center, announced today the opening of a brand new state-of-the-art rehabilitation gymnasium at its Long Beach, NY headquarters. The new gym provides many new tools to the already modern facility. Its increased size will facilitate for a larger capacity of patients and a more concentrated rehabilitation for patients with joint replacements, recent amputations, stroke, MS and many other different types of physically debilitating injuries.

One new addition to Grandell’s Rehabilitation Center is a fifty five foot long ceiling based rail rehabilitation harness. The harness will allow for joint replacement patients, recent amputees, stroke and general rehabilitation patients a faster approach to their regaining independent physical movement and walking control. This is truly a unique harness, which includes a free mobile trolley and lightweight height adjustment system. This system promotes an aggressive gait and balance training program as well as a safer rehabilitation process for both the patient and therapist. The unit has been built with the expertise and knowledge of numerous prosthetic manufactures and nursing care organizations. Current research has shown that the intensity of this therapy technique is critical for optimizing improvement, and patient independence. Grandell has chosen to use a rail based system instead of the standard treadmill based system because the rail systems allow for more dynamic movement, and rapid changes in direction.

Grandell will be the first New York State skilled nursing and rehabilitation care center with this equipment and plans on further expansion to its rehabilitation unit in the near future. The goal of the expanded gymnasium is to help patients recover in a faster, safer and more productive way. This will assist patients in their quick return to the normal activities of daily living. The combination of clinical expertise, advanced technology, and genuine caring makes Grandell the key rehabilitation choice for patients and doctors alike.

Grandell would like to invite the public to join a ribbon cutting and grand-opening celebration of the new rehabilitation unit on January 29, 2009 at 9:00AM. The celebration will include a tour of the entire state-of-the-art therapy and nursing facility, a meeting with their professional nursing and rehabilitation staff and catered-cocktail reception.
