Angelina Jolie to Film Espionage Thriller on Long Island

(Long Island, N.Y.) According to several reports including Star Magazine, Angelina Jolie will be filming the new movie “Edwin A. Salt” later changed to simply “Salt” on Long Island at the old Grumman facility sometime in March.
Originally written for Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise, the fictional film centers on Edwin A. Salt, a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy. He eludes capture by superiors who are convinced he is out to assassinate the president. While trying to reunite with his family, he struggles to prove someone else is the traitor. The character Edwin A. Salt is going from male to female since Jolie has signed on. Cruise was dropped from the project after reportedly demanding a $20 million salary that was rejected by executives at Columbia Pictures.
The superstardom actress, her equally notable husband “Brad Pitt” and their six kids are reportedly moving to Long Island’s North Shore area of Lloyd Neck harbor where they will be renting a 48-acre waterfront estate named “Sassafras”. The $60 million dollar estate (photos) includes a 22,000 square foot Tudor-style main house, two helipads, a private dock, and an 11-bedroom staff house. According to Newsday, annual taxes for the home total more than $200,000.
The old Grumman facility where parts of the film will be shot is a 105-acre site located in Bethpage, New York. For much of the Cold War period Grumman was the largest single corporate employer on Long Island as well as one of the largest producers and manufacturers of military aircraft and navel weapons. In 1994 Northrop, also a designer, and manufacturer of military aircraft, defense electronics, precision weapons, and commercial and military aero structures, bought Grumman for $2.1 billion to form Northrop Grumman. The new company converted the Bethpage plant into a residential and office complex. Northrop Grumman still occupies several of its buildings.
Angelina Jolie has been cited as one of the world’s most beautiful women and has received three Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and an Academy Award. Her husband Brad has been cited as one of the world’s most attractive men and has received two Academy Award nominations and won one Golden Globe Award out of four nominations. The two most recently have been traveling the world to promote Brad’s latest film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have not yet tied the not. Their personal lives are widely reported on as two of the most popular tabloid celebrities in the world.
