image002.jpg (Smithtown, N.Y.) - The Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI), a leading service provider for children and adults with autism on Long Island, is partnering with the DDI Parent’s Association for the second annual Rockin’ for Autism concert on Sunday, January 25, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  Mulcahy’s Pub and Music Hall in Wantagh will once again be heating things up with Long Island’s best rock-n-roll bands to benefit children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.

“Rockin’ for Autism is all about coming together as a community and helping those who cannot help themselves,” said co-chair of the event Jim Cronin and a member of the DDI Foundation Board. “With nearly 900 supporters in attendance last year, we are hoping for an even better turn out this year to help hundreds of children and adults with developmental disabilities here on Long Island.  I encourage everyone to come out and take part in this special day with some great tunes and good people.” Annette Padich, co-chair of the event and a member of the DDI Parent’s Association, added, “This event will be a wonderful way to share a great time while aiding the much needed services provided by both DDI and the DDI Parent’s Association.  It is heartwarming to have such a high level of talented individuals enthusiastically lend themselves to help benefit the more than 1,500 adults and children who receive services daily through DDI’s many programs. The Rockin’ for Autism 2008 event was so well-received and such great fun, to have the ability to share that once again with the Long Island community is both a privilege and a pleasure…and, of course, it’s a great excuse to get together with your friends to hear some awesome music.”

For a $20.00 donation guests will enjoy the sounds of live music, dance troupes and the company of hundreds of fellow Long Islanders.  An all star lineup of legendary Long Island bands will be set to hit the stage including The Stanton Anderson Band, Barnaby Bye, Seven Turns, Nacho Mama’s Band and Dusty Rose.  The Tap-to-Pointe dance troupe will be kicking up their heels and dazzling audience members as well.

Gift baskets auction, raffles, food, cash bar and more will be available for attendees.  For further information or advanced ticket reservation, call 631-366-2978.
