New York Songwriters Circle Contest Submissions Close on October 10th

Charlotte Sometimes, Lisa Loeb, Kate Voegele, Eric Bazilian and Russ Titelman Show Their Support for the New York Songwriters Circle
(New York, N.Y.) Three days remain before all song submissions for the New York Songwriters Circle (http://www.songwriters-circle.com) third annual Songwriting Contest must be received for a chance at over $15,000 in cash and performance related prizes. The NYSC will also present two new additional awards at the contest finale, an International award to an outstanding songwriter from anywhere outside the US, and a Young Writer award, for songwriters ages 8 to 18.
For over 18 years such notable artists as Vanessa Carlton, Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, Jesse Harris, Lisa Loeb, Charlotte Sometimes, Avril Lavigne, John Oates and Chris Barron (of the Spin Doctors) have all been a part of this legendary circle.
This year for the first time, the grand prize winner will also receive a performance spot at the world renowned Madison Square Garden arena and at the Live Nation – Jones Beach Concert Series, a recording sessions with Grammy award winning producer Glenn Barett and also a feature spot on Jonathan Clarke’s highly rated “Out of the Box” radio show on New York’s most popular classic Rock station, Q104.3. Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Marc Cohn and Indie music sensation Dave Barnes will be special guests at the 2008 contest live finale events, November 6th, 2008 at the Bitter End, NYC.
The New York Songwriters Circle contest annually gives performers the rare opportunity to perform their music live in front of top music industry professionals and excited music fans as part of the New York Songwriters Circle’s ongoing showcases series in Philadelphia (at World Café Live), Boston (at Johnny D’s in Somerville), and the legendary Bitter End in New York’s Greenwich Village. Past contest winners include Kate Voegele and “Company of Thieves,” (recently featured as a breaking artist on Billboard Magazine).
Lisa Loeb a singer-songwriter as well as an actress said, “The Songwriters Circle was a showcase in New York City where I could share the stage with other songwriters I respected and perform in front of a supportive audience that loved music. The environment challenged me to play and write better, and to be heard by other music business professionals, which sometimes resulted in great opportunities.”
“I think NYSC is such a great experience to any new, as well as established songwriter,” commented singer-songwriter and actress Charlotte Sometimes. “It was such a great thing for me because the circle is such a legendary, respectable organization,” added past winner Kate Voegele (currently starring in the hit TV Show “One Tree Hill). “It’s an amazing contest put together by amazing people.”
Legendary Grammy award winning producer and NYSC judge Russ Titelman said, “I love hearing songs in their purest form. That’s why I love the New York Songwriters Circle.”
This years panel of judges includes Grammy-Award winning producer Russ Titelman, 785 Records/Publishing and Denise Rich Songs PresidentMark Eichner, Rolling Stone and New York Magazine contributor and author John Colapinto and many more.
