Paul J. Ponturo, P.E. Has Joined H2M’s Water Resource Engineering Department

(Melville, N.Y.) - H2M, a multi-disciplined Engineering, Architectural and Laboratory Analysis firm, is proud to announce that PAUL J. PONTURO, P.E. has recently joined H2M as Senior Water Resources Engineer in the Water Resource Engineering Department. Mr. Ponturo is a licensed professional engineer in New York, with over 36 years of diversified Water Resource Management experience.
Prior to H2M, Mr. Ponturo was the Chief of the Office of Water Resources, of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services’ Division of Environmental Quality, where he served as a Public Health Engineer since 1972. As Chief, he supervised a staff of 34 engineers, hydrogeologists, sanitarians, well drillers and office support personnel.
While at the Department he focused on regulations governing county public water supplies, monitoring of drinking water quality and groundwater resources, cooperative studies with NYSDOH, NYSDEC and the US EPA, Suffolk’s water resource planning, and categorizing impacts to the watershed areas of public supply well sources.
A member of the American Water Works Association since 1978 and the Long Island Water Conference, he chairs the Conference’s Drinking Water Standards Committee. He has provided training to public water supply professionals, and lectured at Stony Brook University and Southampton College on a wide variety of relevant water supply issues.
Mr. Ponturo received a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of NY and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University.
A resident of the Town of Huntington for nearly 30 years, he has been a long standing member of the town’s Plumbing Board and is Vice-Chairman of the town’s Conservation Board.
