Change for Change: Future Tech Enterprise Strives to Make a Big Difference with Small Change
October 6, 2008
(Holbrook, N.Y.) Imagine being able make a big difference in the lives of those who need your help the most, and doing it by offering just your spare change. It may seem over-simplified at a time when many people are tightening their belts and non-profits are seeing fewer donations. But that’s exactly the point Bob Venero, CEO of Future Tech Enterprise, is trying to convey with his latest effort – Change for Change.
Change for Change is encouraging people of all ages to help others by donating their loose change to local causes. At Future Tech headquarters in Holbrook, donations are dropped into a unique coffee table that doubles as a collection bin; crafted with tempered glass and wood, at first glance it looks like a normal coffee table. A closer look reveals two slotted holes on the table top where visitors and employees can drop their coins.
Change for Change will set a new goal every few months and then donate the money to a specific cause. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Change for Change is collecting money to help support a local breast cancer charity. When the goal is reached, the company will present a check on behalf of the Future Tech employees and visitors who donated their spare change.
Bayport resident and Future Tech CEO Bob Venero said, “As we step through life, helping another person or family is a goal we should all strive to achieve. Every penny, nickel, dime and quarter will have an impact and has the power to help make a difference in many lives.”
To help kickoff the program, Future Tech employees enthusiastically gathered their spare change from their desk drawers, cars and returned soda cans; others are putting out collection jars at garage sales and community functions. “It’s an amazing example of community spirit and how individuals working together can truly make change happen,” said Mr. Venero.
