‘The Pure Power Mouthguard’ packing a big punch in New York City

(Long Island, N.Y.) It’s not just any mouth guard: while the Pure Power Mouthguard (PPM) works to protect Dmitry Salita’s teeth, it is also allowing his body to perform at the next level, thanks to the wonders of neuromuscular dentistry.

Salita, a junior-welterweight boxer who is currently ranked 3rd by the WBA, started using the PPM just six weeks ago and says he is seeing a big difference in his performance. “I could see that I was much more flexible, my upper body is more relaxed. My hands felt looser and my punches came in quicker.”

The PPM works by properly aligning an athlete’s jaw, allowing their neck and jaw muscles to relax, which results in an increase in strength, balance, and flexibility. It has already created a sensation by helping other star athletes take their game to a new level. Manny Ramirez of the LA Dodgers, Michael Redd of the Milwaukee Bucks, and Josh Brown of the St. Louis Rams are all raving about what the PPM has done to help them.

And now, the PPM is being offered by Dr. Gary Lederman, a renowned neuromuscular dentist working out of New York City, NY. He also has a practice in Bellmore, NY.

Dr. Lederman says that years of research went into designing the mouth guard. “It begins with looking at how the body functions as a whole,” he says. “Over 90% of the population has an overbite, and one of the negative effects of an overbite is that it causes muscle tension. When the neck and jaw muscles are tense, the body can’t perform at its peak. Strength is lost and balance is diminished. So on the most basic level, what the PPM does is allow the body to perform at its absolute peak, in a purely natural way.”

To achieve this kind of efficiency, athletes who are interested in using the PPM must be fitted by specially trained and licensed dentists, such as Dr. Lederman. Lederman says that the key to getting the perfect fit is the use of state-of-the-art equipment which monitors the condition of the jaw muscles so that a dentist can determine where the optimal bite position is.

“Once we know where the optimal bite position is, we can then fit the mouth guard,” he says. “So whenever they put the device in their mouth, it will hold their jaw in the perfect position, freeing up the rest of the body to perform at it’s best.”

For Dmitry Salita, the timing of discovering the PPM couldn’t be better. He is currently training to fight WBA junior-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik on November 8, in Madison Square Garden. “Approaching such a big fight, anything on this level that can improve your performance is a huge help,” he says.

He says the PPM is giving him better balance and helping him to relax. “In a sport like boxing, and especially in a fight of longer distance, it is very important to be relaxed and to preserve your energy properly, and therefore the mouth guard is a great tool.”

The PPM is part of a comprehensive mouth guard system, in which the upper guard protects the teeth, while the bottom guard holds the jaw in optimal position.

The inventor of the PPM is Dr. Anil Makkar. Both Dr. Makkar and Dr. Lederman are graduates of the esteemed Las Vegas Institute (LVI) for Advanced Dentistry.

There are currently over 200 professional athletes using the PPM, from MLB, the NBA, NFL, NHL, and UFC. There are also over 1000 collegiate and amateur athletes who are embracing the PPM phenomenon. That number is sure to rise.

“Using the mouth guard is kind of like being on some kind of sport-enhancing vitamins – it’s pretty amazing that all it’s really just a mouth piece,” says Salita. “It’s incredible that it can have such a stunning effect.”

Salita is confident that the PPM will help him in his title fight on November 8. “On the highest of levels, any improvement goes a long, long way,” he says. “I think the mouth guard is going to help me feel more relaxed, flexible, stronger, and more balanced, and those are all improvements that you want.”
