Holistic Approach Treats Underlying Causes of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Complements Chiropractic Neurology Principles
(Smithtown N.Y.)- Smithtown Chiropractic Neurologist Dr. Keri Chiappino announced today her adoption of the Defeat Autism Now! Approach and her inclusion on the registry of Defeat Autism Now! Practitioners created by the Autism Research Institute (ARI). Dr. Chiappino is among a growing group of clinicians who advocate individualized biomedical and Chiropractic Neurological therapies for children diagnosed with neurological disorders such as autism.
“Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are dysfunctions of the neurologic, metabolic, immune and/or digestive systems. The Defeat Autism Now! philosophy and the field of Chiropractic Neurology share core beliefs, most importantly the need to address the underlying causes of the symptoms. Both recognize the need for customizable therapies as each child presents his/her unique set of issues and offer a variety of biomedical and non-drug, brain-based therapy options for custom-tailoring effective rehabilitative programs. I expect the Defeat Autism Now! diagnostic and treatment options, combined with the neurological therapies comprising my Maximum Achievement ProgramSM (MAP), will enhance the ability to detect and address the underlying causes of the symptoms of autism in my patients.”
The Defeat Autism Now! approach is based on the unique symptoms, history, examinations, and biomedical testing of each child. It includes a broad range of modalities that are appropriate to each individual to address the medical illnesses associated with autism such as food allergies, digestive, bowel, and auto-immune disorders. This philosophy advocates treating the child holistically through diets, supplements and other biomedical procedures.
MAP was created by Dr. Chiappino in 2003 and supports the approach that balancing brain function restores neurological health, enabling a child to perform at full potential. MAP is comprised of various Chiropractic Neurological modalities that are customized to each patient’s individual deficits, such as cognitive exercises, visual therapy, vestibular therapy, and physical therapy. The goal is to improve the function of the brain that controls all aspects of health in order to help combat the symptoms of ASD, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as well as other learning disorders and ultimately achieve maximum health results.

Got something to say?

Just what Long Island needs — another opportunist jumping on the autism quackery bandwagon. Can she produce any peer-reviewed reports that document her supposed “success” at “improving brain functionality in children with ASD,” or do we just have to believe in her unverified, self-aggrandizing claims?
