Presidential Candidate Ron Paul Bears Empty Pot For Americans

ron_paul.jpg(Smithtown, N.Y.) Many contend that Ron Paul, although an honest, plain-talking man, comes to the 2008 presidential campaign podium without a lot of achievement.  While in office, he hasn’t steer-headed proposed legislation into law, or galvanized broad-based support for this national agenda or that, or even been on board with most post-911 bills and actions.  For almost twenty years, he’s been a dedicated representative for his Texas District and has not a potpourri of achievements about which to boast on the presidential campaign trail.  Is this exactly true?  How could someone serve for so long, and have so little to show for it?

At this time, I should share a story I heard from two entertainers at my son’s grade school.  The entertainers were turning books from different parts of the world into short, little plays, in order to spark the children’s interest in reading.  The following story took place centuries ago in the Far East.

The wise, old emperor was keenly aware that he was getting along in years, and he worried about finding a suitable replacement to lead the people.  One day, he solicited the young people of his kingdom to gather, and he shocked them by telling them that he would be stepping down and that he would choose one of them to be his successor.  “I am going to give each one of you a seed today, a very special seed.  I want you to plant the seed, water it and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed.  I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next emperor!”

One young man named Ling, a son of a farmer, was there that day, and he was certain that he could cultivate that seed better than anyone else.  He got a pot, filled it with rich soil and watered it carefully.  Day after day, he checked the pot.  Weeks passed by, then months, and still nothing had grown.  Other youths from the kingdom began to talk about their plants and flowers and trees, but Ling said nothing.  He was sure that he somehow had killed the seed.

After a year had passed, all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection.  Ling’s first inclination was not to attend, but he showed up that day, sick to his stomach.  He was amazed at the plants that the others had brought.  They were of all different varieties and all so beautiful.  Some of the others made fun of Ling’s empty pot and others felt pity for him.  Ling stood toward the back of the crowd.

The emperor looked over the vast array and seemed pleased.  Then, he spotted Ling standing at the back of the room with his empty pot, and he ordered his guards to bring the young man to the front.  Ling was led grudgingly, fearful that he may be punished for his utter failure.  The emperor asked his name.  “My name is Ling,” he replied.  Now, all the youths were laughing and making fun.  The emperor then announced to the crowd, “Behold your new emperor!  His name is Ling!”
The emperor continued,

One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed.  I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it and bring it back to me today.  But I gave you all boiled seeds which would not grow.  The rest of you substituted your own seeds for the one I gave you, but Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it.  Therefore, he is the one who will be your new emperor!

Ron Paul, like Ling, is a great truth-teller.  His voting record is one of the most consistent
this writer has ever seen.  No flip-flops are to be found. As well, he is a courageous and wise man, and a heck of an economist.  Just ask the Wall Streeters.  However, he bears to his fellow countrymen (and countrywomen), an empty pot.  He can’t claim to have brought you wars or higher taxes, which we now have.  He never brought you an unbalanced budget, which is a perennial joke.  He never voted himself a wage increase and, to this day, gives back part of his salary every year.  He has always voted to preserve the Constitution, cut government spending, lower healthcare costs, end the war on drugs, secure our borders with immigration reform and protect our civil liberties.  Sorrowfully, he was outvoted or shot down on all measures.  The Constitution has been chiseled down, government spending is through the roof, healthcare costs are out of control, the war on drugs keeps getting less effective, immigration issues remain unresolved and our civil liberties have been crimped for our own safety.   I’ll just throw in that Ron Paul opposes regulation of the internet, which has been a revolution in the exchange of ideas, this article being a case in point.

The eye-popping reality of the situation is this.  No longer can it be said that Ron Paul is running for President.  Amazingly enough, his candidacy has been hijacked, and it appears now that the people are running for President. . . through Ron Paul!  That’s the true revolution about which your neighbors are speaking.

So, do you want the plants and flowers that your other government representatives have cultivated for you year after year, or do you want an open and honest effort at change, not for the powerful interests, but for you and for members of your family yet to arrive.  If you want to see an unprecedented effort at change - starting with the only man on the campaign trail who is not afraid to tell you the truth - your action must start now.  Get informed.  Get angry.  Get talking to your neighbors.  Then, get to the voting booths!

With the exception of the article title (which I’m sure the press gave) this is a very accurate description of Dr. P aul what he stands for. Honesty and integrity!

    Bravo! Bravo! Bravissimo!!

Finally, reporter who simply states the facts and applies common sense, allowing Dr. Paul’s record to speak for itself. The juxtaposition of the Chinese story is brilliant and relevant on many levels…

…that there is wisdom to be found in history (as in before the 1940’s)
…that truth can come from other cultures (even - gasp! - the Chinese)
…that the ends do not justify the means
…that honesty does, in fact, have value
…and that each of these lessons are not just espoused, but lived, by Dr. Paul daily.

There is truly a revolution going on. So many of “the people” have become disillusioned and dead underbrush in this country. Ron Paul is merely the spark that has started the wildfire.

The most profound insight of all: the people are running for president via Ron Paul.

Very well written article. I consider myself a Lou Dobbs Democrat. After listening to Ron Paul in ALL the debates I have decided that he is the only person in either the Republican or Democratic party that I can vote for. I have to confess I am excited for the first time in my life about an election and a candidate.

Wow. As I read your title I was preparing my rant to tell you how you were misinformed, and a lot worse. By the time I got to the end, I had a tear in my eye! This is a beautiful article and a great analogy. If people would read and comprehend it, Ron Paul would be elected and we could start down the road to restoring American values. Big “IF”, unfortunately.

Thank you for this article, but pox on the editorial staff that picked the title. The MSM are scared to death of Ron Paul because he does tell the truth. He was right about Iraq before the war, he was right about Iran now and he is right about the attack on our nation by globalists that pushing us to a united US, Canada and Mexican union. They did it in Europe, why wouldn’t it be done here. People don’t realize that the US currency is falling because the US population can’t support it anymore using our population base - this is why “they” need to create a new currency (Amero) backed by the productivity of a larger union. Get Educated and Vote to save our country!! Vote Ron Paul.

Great commentary on the value of a Ron Paul in Congress.

To those that suggest the title is harmful or an attack, I think it was the best way to title this story. Too often we jump to conclusions, like many that say Ron Paul is an isolationist not knowing the definition of terms, or wonder why he votes against using taxpayer dollars for Congressional Medals. He says it is because he’d rather use his own money, not because he doesn’t want to reward and recognize people for taking brave action. We Ron Paul supporters need to practice what we preach or we will lose.

The story shows that an empty pot is better than a corrupt one. Ron Paul brings an idea of humbe restraint, rather than “free stuff.” The title is perfect. Great writing.

    Mr. Fiser!!
Your article is one of the best I have read so far and the way you applied the story from the Far East to Dr. Paul was masterful. You, Mr. Fiser, are also not afraid to bring an empty pot to the gathering of the media. You are willing and very able to see Dr. Paul for who he is and what he represents. Thank you for taking the time to do this!!

It started with the Magna Carta in 1025, bloomed with “The Rights Of Man” in the 1600s by John Lock and came to fruitation with our own Declaration of Independence and the framework of our Constitution.     The title gave me a scare, but what a good article! ;) It’s very difficult to explain the Ron Paul movement, but I think you’ve managed to wrap it up very nicely with that cute little parable. I give you kudos for understanding what other writers scratch their heads over- this is a movement of the people! It’s the free market spilling our from our minds and onto the campaign trail. And the free market DOES work. :}

Excellent article. Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between” Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like “America Deceived’ from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.

Mr. Fiser, thank you for such a well written article. I have to echo the “WOW” in the comments that appear at the end of it. I’ve read many articles, positive and negative, about Dr. Paul. The parable made your article stand out from the rest. I’ve also heard it pretty much implied but never really as well stated as you did in your next to last paragraph, the PEOPLE are running for the president through Ron Paul. You knocked it out of the ballpark and deserve a Pulitzer prize for this one. It is not surprising that the comments rise to the level of excellence of the article. Great leaders like Ron Paul appeal to the better angels of the people and make us better people, worthy of the kind of benevolent government over which he seeks to preside, and worthy of the kind of journalism that Mr. Fiser has presented with such courage and competence. It is interesting that there are no negative comments. Confronted with the essence of Ron Paul’s character and accomplishment, distilled into 100 proof verbal liqueur of this quality, opponents of reason, restraint and character have nothing to say. That is why Ron Paul will win the election- because right makes might.

I skipped through the section on the book because I read it to my Children I knew before I was into the first sentance of the story that the article was a good one. The story is a wonderfull analogy of Ron Paul standing up for the constitution and the people in an ocean of bought and paid for yes menand women polititions.

A profound article, and I thank you for it. I’m actually happy with the title, for two reasons. First, it seems negative, which will get non-Pauls to read it — I think they tend to ignore obviously laudatory pieces. Secondly, it’s like a lot of what Paul says: seemingly shocking and off-the-wall at first, but very well supported and appropriately complex once you learn more. It’s been said that Dr. Paul’s policies don’t make for good sound bites; analogously, I’d say, the parable in this article doesn’t make for a good headline. In an age of platitudes and demagogues, though, a mind such as his is a refreshing change, and what our country needs.

You have succinctly summed up why myself and so many others are voting for this man. Some are Republican, others are Democrat and still others Independants. Some of us are pro-choice, others are pro-life. Some are for strict immigration others for lesser restrictions.

My point being that we have all come together and put aside our differences for one reason — INTEGRITY. I have never seen a politician, let alone one running for president who (as my dad used to say..) says what he means and means what he says and sticks by his guns like Ron Paul. There are no flip-flops with Dr. Paul. His reply to a question in New Hampshire will be the same reply to the same question in California.

    Good analogy.

The original story is from Demi, a children’s author. Look it up “The Empty Pot” on Amazon. I think it’s put to good use for the Revolution, too. It’s great that the simplicity of a child’s story can give more insight than a lot of “propaganda” we see every day online and in print.

There is hope that a free press still exists that are journalists for We the People, and not propagandists for the corporate shill politicians.

An amazing thing is occurring. We the People are saying in a growing voice to those who consider themselves elite, “Gentlemen, your reality is based on lies and balderdash, and we are happy to say we grasp none of it.”

Keep publishing the objective truth, and NLI’s contribution to the Paul led Revolution to restore the American Republic will be noted in history.

I am going to recommend this op-ed to my local newspaper for inclusion on its editorial pages.

I thank you for your well written article.

I enjoy the hijack phrase towards the end.

After I had been in the campaign for a while and fully realized that we, the supporters, were in fact running everything, I came up with a similar thought.

“We are going to go get the presidency and then we are going to draft Dr. Paul to take office.”

The fact that we are not “behind” some media driven cult of personality, makes us far more flexible and strong than any top down organization. The Ron Paul “supporter effort” is primarily driven by emotion.

It is very fast, it is self ordering and completely unpredictable. Each and every supporter is faithful, not only to Dr. Paul, but to the message. WE must restore the rule of law in this country or there will be no more country. This is a profound enough point to keep any organization in line.

Being bold enough to stand up for what is right is a hard thing to do. I know I had to do it in life and while at the time it seemed an overarching burden it became the fruit I always sought.

Ron Paul is bold enough to stand up for the truth. Truth is what the President should be all about especially today.

Minor correction: Ron Paul doesn’t return a portion of his salary, he returns a portion of the funds he’s allocated for his congressional office staff and expenses. He has also declined to participate in the rather luxurious pension plan that he’s entitled to as a congressman.

Ron Paul has brought with him an empty pot from Washington, but hundreds of thousands of supporters stand behind him like mighty oaks with a renewed strength of purpose in the renewal of liberty. Our founding fathers stand with us proudly, along with every soul that truly gave his/her life for our beloved Constitution. We are unstoppable. We will shut down the corporate media and bring them to justice!

I actually think the title was perfect. People want/like dirt and are more likely to read something that appears to be a negative before they’ll read something positive. Sad, but it’s a fact. Think how hard it is not to look when you pass an accident on the road.

One sure way to measure a politicians support is to note who is trying to jump on his coat tails. Example - Heather Wildon, running for the Senate in NM , is a dyed in the wool Bush supporter. She has placed adds on Ron Pau sites seeking donations. In these adds she describes herself in terms that appear to support Ron Paul. She is NOT a RP supporter, in addition Democrte Briam Egolg has done the same thing. Now on thTHIS site Mitt Romney has imposed a video of him over the story of Ron Paul, so RP’s article can’t be read.

Looks like Ron Paul is the man to beat - and they can’t - and they know it.

Lovely and moving piece. Thank you so much, sir.

As well as Dr. Paul’s honesty and courage, I think it’s his decades of _faithfulness_ to the ideals of freedom that moves us so deeply. The same faithfulness shown by Ling in the story, who waters his seed every day for so long, even though nothing seems to be growing.

I haven’t been so faithful to the ideals, and I know I had allowed myself to sink into apathy and cynicism. But Dr. Paul’s shining example is curing me of it, and helping me to renew not only hope, but integrity and courage and faith, in myself.

Blessings and peace upon you, Dr. Ron Paul.

“Is there no virtue among us? If there be not, we are in a
wretched situation. No theoretical checks-no form of government
can render us secure. To suppose that any form of government will
secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people, is
a chimerical idea, if there be sufficient virtue and intelligence
in the community, it will be exercised in the selection of these
men. So that we do not depend on their virtue, or put confidence
in our rulers, but in the people who are to choose them.”

    – James Madison (speech at the Virginia Ratifying Convention,
    20 June 1788)

Reference: The True Republican, French, ed. (28-29)

Virtuous citizens are freely campaigning for a virtuous man, Ron Paul.

Clearly the unvirtuous do not want to see, hear, nor speak about the citizens support for Paul.

Ron Paul has become Voldemort to the unvirtuous, they are afraid to even say his name!

Jonathan… give US a break! The reaction you see here is one of jubilation because it’s a rare exception to the norm. We’re so used to op-eds where they routinely (and most likely deliberately) mischaracterize Ron Paul’s positions or portray them in some kind of absurd way for the purpose of discrediting him. Another favorite tactic is trying to use the tired, old “guilt by association” tactic of emphasizing the support he gets from “conspiracy theory nuts” or implying that he must be a racist because some KKK goofball that nobody ever heard of donated to his campaign. This author’s portrayal of Ron is as close to the truth as you can get, so we’re naturally appreciative of it.

Winston Churchill wasn’t effective in bringing about change in Parliament in trying to prepare England for war and her defense when Chamberlain was Prime Minister. He was laughed at jeered, isolated and was pretty much alone accept for a few members of Parliament who supported him.

Ron Paul has been ignored and isolated, but now that he’s got alot more grassroots support, you can be assured that his fellow members of Congress are starting to respect him.

The member of the Liberty Committee, which he chairs , only numbers about a dozen to twenty members of Congress. Even Tom Tancredo, who is probably pretty close to Ron Paul, has alot of respect for him, but has abadoned Ron on a few issues, mainly Iraq policy. Tancredo buys into the neo-con arguments, and Dr. Ron does not.

Time is on Ron Paul’s side, the economy is tankering, the dollar is on the verge of collapse, possible bank failures, massive mortgage foreclosures and a flight to Gold and Silver is about to begin.

Shortly, the American people will look for answers and Ron Paul, like Winston Churchill has stood his ground like a steadfast poll in a hurricaine wind.

Ron Paul is and intellectual and will be able to lead, because he is a man of values, integrity and intelligence.

I am speechless! I read your piece and with every line more pleasing than the next. Yeah, I’m a Ron Paul supporter, but even more interesting is that you get it. i mean you actually get it. Ron Paul himself has stated over and over again, this movement is is not solely his doing, and that he is grateful to a part of this revolution. Don’t get me wrong, I sincerely believe there is no one with more principled integrity than Dr. Ron Paul and I am donating money and time to his accent to the presidency.
After all, this is it! period! We don’t get another shot at this, it has taken the American spirit nearly a hundred years to awaken from it;s slumber. We are at a crossroads, we’re stepping into the Rubicon joined together for a single cause, FREEDOM for us all. The support and numbers are growing exponentially. I have yet to hear one person i have spoken to reject Dr. Paul’s views or positions once they have finally been exposed to them. The most common response, by far, that i receive is, ”Wow, how come I’ve never heard of this guy before”. And that brings me to my point, Our battle lines are not drawn against any other candidate in either party as they quite simply are not comparable to Dr. Paul in an honest evaluation of their positions or past performance. Dr. Paul id easily head and shoulders above the entire field. Our task is to expose Dr. Paul and his message to the masses and so far as I can see, we are winning this battle.

I just couldn’t read this miraculously accurate piece,( one of the finest examples of journalism I have ever read ) and not share with you my most sincerest feelings of admiration. Thank you SIR, and may posterity always remember your contributions to the sanctity of our beloved FREE PRESS.

    Warmest regards,
    Stephen Dupont,

This man and his ideas need to be protected and realized. One of the things he wants to do is abolish the Federal Reserve Bank’s ability to issue money and take it from this private company and give the power back to the public (people), as was mandated by the constition. John F Kennedy did this in the spring of 1963 with the Executive Order 11110. JFK’s new money system was systemetically replacing Federal Reserve money. It lasted five months, then he was murdered and the Federal Reserve money system quietly returned to drain the pockets of the Americans, again. The Bank of England does not like it when the Americans tell this corporation to take its bags and leave the country. The Warren Commission was a way to gather incriminating evidence of the players connected to the bank and destroy it. Think Watergate. The Federal Reserve Bank is a puppet of the Bank of England. Your taxes, servicing the debt is their cash cow. Ron Paul will be messing with the cash cow . This bank uses mind control as its strongest tool embedded news organizations and a few will placed pieces of lead/threats carried out by its puppet power of the day. We need to enforce the constitution and help Ron Paul and his team to make it all the way.
We have got to make diebold software’s data of the voting tallies open to the public. Right now we have to trust this privately owned company as to who wins the election. Our vote has got mean something in 2008.

I don’t even bother listening to what any of the other Republican candidates SAY they stand for, because I know they are lying through their teeth — exactly the way Bush did when he was running for president. Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate I trust.

I have never yet voted in a presidential primary, and I’ve only bothered to vote in two general elections so far — even though I’ve already been eligible to vote in seven of them by now. Ron Paul is the first presidential candidate who has motivated me to plan to vote in a presidential primary.

I’m so sorry I blocked out the Libertarians all those years. Like most people in this country, I was brainwashed by the corporatists to believe that Libertarians were extremists and to walk away and refuse to listen whenever they approached with information. Now I realize that the so-called ‘moderate’ candidates are the real extremists, and that the Libertarian Republicans are the true sensible moderates.

I guess it took two sociopaths like bush and cheney to make me finally see the truth.

Thank you for your beautiful essay, which brought a tear to my eye. Funny how things about Ron Paul will do that to me. It’s a mixture of hope for the future, admiration for the purity and nobility of Ron Paul’s long quest, and mourning for the lost greatness of the America of my childhood.

If Ron Paul is elected, he may preside over the hardest of times for our country, as the fiat-based false prosperity of the past 30+ years comes crashing down around us. Even so, I would rather have him at the helm than any of the other candidates because he has a firm hold on reality, and the quiet courage to face it.

For the first time in my life, I have contributed to a political campaign, and will be maxing out on the 16th of December if I can. My wife is writing personal letters to Iowa voters, and we both tell everyone we can about him. I will be serving as a delegate to the Republican National Convention on Ron Paul’s behalf. There is no personal glory or financial advantage in any of this. We are doing this for a better world for our children and grandchildren, and for love of our country.

The average American is busy earning a living to pay attention to the actions of the
“educated” public officials, who take an oath to uphold our laws and constitution and serve the people.
If the people someday pay attention to the actions of the political incumbents in office and vote all incumbents out of office until the newly elected officials carry out their oaths to the American people, electing Ron Paul would be a good start.

Thank you for this incredible article on the only candidate who can stop the destruction of our country by the DemoPublicans.

I have personally known Ron Paul since 2000, have worked as a campaign worker (both when he was my Congressman and when he was not), and have followed his writings since 1984 when I first discovered his articles on the currency, the alleged “Federal Reserve,” and the economy.

I can state without hesitation that Ron Paul is today, the same person as he was then and his beliefs have been consistent for as long as I can go back in time.

Despite the attempts by the mainstream media to completely ignore that he even exists, support for Ron Paul is growing almost exponentially such that both parties are scared to death that Ron Paul might actually win the nomination in the Republican party. That alleged “conservative” commentators (i.e. Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin, Michael Medved, and others) are waging a full frontal assault against Ron Paul speaks volumes, implying that these folks have been tasked by the Republican party with quashing Ron Paul before he becomes a threat.

I have news for you folks in that camp, you are too late. Ron Paul is a threat to “business as usual” in government and he represents a powerful force against big government, taxing productive Americans into oblivion, the apparently intended collapse of our financial system by printing worthless currency, and selling off our country to foreign interests.

Ron Paul stands tall as the only candidate who thinks like the founding fathers. Like them, he is a visionary who understands the Marxist society to which our alleged leaders are rushing headlong with the American people in tow.

There is little or no difference between all of the other candidates other than the degree of their commitment to destroy our nation. The other Republican candidates (Guiliani, Romney, the Huckster, or McCain) will take us down the path to destruction a bit slower than the Hildabeast, Osama Obama, John Edwards, Bill Richardson, and the rest. Choosing one of the other Republican clowns will be more like putting a frog into a vat of cold water and gradually raising the temperature to boiling. Choosing one of the Democrat candidates will be more like throwing us into the vat of boiling water. Either way, our goose is cooked and we will die.

Enlightening comes to mind. But then, I’ve always loved parables. Dr. Paul not only stands for, but represents a collective ‘knowing’ that the direction of this country is traveling a disastrous path.

Jeanette apparently has no use, and no idea what a parable is. The idea is that you take with you the moral of the story and not the specifics. First Jeanette, how can you ASSume that the Emporer is not an honest man just because he gave the propective citizens a test to become Emporer. Did he ever say that the seeds would grow? NO. He said it wasx a very special seed, and he would see what each of them had grown from those seeds when they returned.

Apparently Jeanette is is Politics. She must have been one of the other candidates who actually read the Patriot Act before signing it.

By the way Jeanette, that was an inside joke. Everyone else submitting responses here know that Ron Paul was one of the only Congressmen or Senators to actually READ the Patriot Act. Maybe you should go back and re-read this parable, study it, take out a highlighter and mark down the strong points, and then we can discuss any other questions you may have before you make an ASSume of yourself again.

This nation started out with that boiled seed, the Articles of Confederation, and nothiong grew. It was replaced with a real seed, the Constitution, and we grew into the freest and most powerfull nation ever. Ron Paul’s understanding of the Constitution is really that of the Articles, which he prefers, as his positions make clear. That is the empty pot that Paul would hand us. Indeed, for you The trouble with the naive notions of Paul is Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, who wanted that large extended commercial republic, which the Articles could never give us, to reduce the violence of the factions, which the Articles would have allowed to destroy the small republics or States. The Constitution is the vehicle for an Empire of Frredom, which Paul and his people would turn upside down.
Let’s not forget that Jefferson and his Party went ahead with much of Hamilton’s stuff, such as the Purchase, a central bank, and some entangling alliances.
Paul and his supporters are advocating a revolution that would take us back to the Articles, and that way leads to anarchy and, later, despotism. I must agree that that Chinese emperor was quite dishonest and his successor lacked wisdom, the wisdom to note that something was wrong with the seed. The Federalists were a lot smarter, and we have a much better nation for it.

  193. Adam on December 7th, 2007 10:34 pm

Clearly, Ron Paul is the only candidate who is telling the truth. Clearly he is the only one voting for the American people’s interests over those of corporations and lobbyists. Clearly he has proven time and again that his libertarianism is a real philosophy and not an idealistic blanket with which he protects unpopular decisions from public scorn.

But, in the end, he still just has an empty pot. He’s going to dismantle the federal government, cut off much needed domestic organizations and regulation and attack the idea that goverments help people fight battles that they cannont fight on their own.

There is no doubt that the democratic nominees - dennis excepted, of course - are working so hard to run from the left that they have totally lost sight of what makes candidates atttractive and have become wholly fabricated and untrustworthy. And the Republicans, just as obviously, are all douchebags. But going with the guy who tells you truthfully and honestly that all he can offer is an empty pot is not the answer.

I do like the point of this article, which is to show that Ron Paul has been consistent, which is very true and is definitely something to look into when voting for someone to represent you because you will know what you are getting yourself into. I also like many of his ideas about how this country should be run and changes that should be made.

One thing that he needs to do is act out. He hasn’t accomplished much which says that he is often too passive. I would like changes to be made of course but in a way that satisfies me. I can look past the flip flopping if a candidate, at the time of his or her campaign, seem to really support their views and backs up their views with action. It is unreasonable to expect not only a politician, but anyone, to go through life without changing their views on the world. How many of you can say that you are the same person you were only five years ago? Few I hope. Otherwise you are not investing in your own personal development which includes questioning your own thoughts and opinions.

Ron Paul is a great man. He’s the only one who has a chance of fixing the mess in the USA. Which is precisely why he won’t be elected President now. His chances are less than 3% and dropping (used to be above 4).

The US empire must fall. This is a historical inevitability. The same social forces who make this fall inevitable have helped re-elect a moron like Dubya and will prevent the election of an intelligent person like Ron Paul.

What a great example of excellent writing. Yes, Ron Paul is the real deal. However, we need to understand the dragons that Ron Paul will face. They are detailed at the GreatRedDragon.com web site. My dream team would be Ron Paul for President, and Dennis Kucinich for VP. We might just have 16 years of decency to clean up the mess of 28 years. Ron Paul goes first because of age.

    Dr. Paul,

I know you insist on honest money too…so be very careful…

    ***

    PRESIDENTIAL ASSASSINATIONS

President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated after issuing the Greenback, which was a non-interest-bearing note. President James A. Garfield expressed his concern about currency problems just before his assassination.

On June 4, 1963 President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order 11110 providing him with the authority “to issue silver certificates against all silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury not then held for redemption of any outstanding silver certificates, and to coin standard silver dollars and subsidiary silver currency for their redemption…” This seems like an attempt to bypass the Federal Reserve System by issuing real, silver-backed money to replace counterfeit Federal Reserve Notes. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963.

There is a rumor that the “Kennedy silver certificates” were actually printed and that one of the first things President Lyndon B. Johnson did after assuming power was to have the “Kennedy silver certificates” destroyed. In 1964 Johnson, serving as the voice of the Federal Reserve bankers, said, “Silver has become too valuable to be used as money.” This amounted to a brazen boast that the bankers would eliminate any money with intrinsic value. On November 22, 1963, the day of Kennedy’s funeral, the first 50 million “no-promise” Federal Reserve Notes were released into circulation. The symbolic celebration of the Federal Reserve bankers?

230 responses in 3 days, all in support of Ron Paul, all understanding the importance of reversing the direction America is heading. The present administration continues to try to fool all Americans into believing we have to continue a war that we shouldn’t be in. They are even trying to extend it into Iran who only wants to have cheap nuclear energy like the rest of the developing countries. They stopped their nuclear weapons development plans in 2003, yet the present administration and all of their lackies want us to hate them and fear that they will attack us with nuclear weapons. We must put a stop to the antogonistic rheteric spewed out by the administration, the media and the presidential candidates running for the presidency. Our country is the best in the world, but we are being pulled down by this malicious, vial missinformation. We are a free society, but that can change in a heartbeat if we don’t do something about it. We need Ron Paul to insure America remains free, with our liberties intact and present ourselvfes as a peaceful nation. We need to stop the attacks on other nations. Who is Iran attacking? Who is America attacking? If anyone should be declared a terrorist organization, it should be the present administration. We sholuld not be policing the world, they have enough of that in their own countries.
Get out of the business of nation building and start rebuilding our own nation based on freedom and peace.

Now that we’re beginning to see the truth come out about Dr. Paul, it’s refreshing to see such a postive, well written editorial that doesn’t use negative buzz-words.

Thank you so much Mr. Fiser and Searchen Networks for publishing this and making the reprint copyright so affordable. At $50, I would encourage all readers to pursue getting their local paper to publish this as a guest editorial. Those local papers pay thousands of dollars for syndicated columns so fifty bucks is nothing to them. Give it a shot - you may be surprised!

Dr. Paul has been my Rep. in Washington for many years and yes, we keep electing him. His pot is not, as pointed out, as empty as one might believe.

God Bless Ron and Carol Paul and the Paul family. They represent the true American, and would make the founding fathers of this great country proud.

Have you noticed the negative, sleazy methods attempted by the mainstream media to make Ron Paul look stupid and yet all of them have failed so now they are in the name-calling stage of their assault. Even if Ron Paul doesn’t win the nomination - WRITE HIM IN ON THE BALLOT!
Instead of listening to the nay-sayers making light of Ron Paul, ask them who they would like to be President, and, if they say Ron Paul, then tell them to vote for him. To you know where with the popularity polls! I have one of the five dollar US Notes that Kennedy had printed up before he was killed. The bottom line is, more government is not the answer. Anyone who believes that is supporting shades of communism/socialism. A quote attributed to Mark Twain reads: “IN THE BEGINNING, A PATRIOT IS A MAN HATED, FEARED AND SCORNED, BUT IN TIME, WHEN HIS CAUSE SUCCEEDS, THE TIMID JOIN HIM, BECAUSE THEN IT COSTS NOTHING TO BE A PATRIOT.” Go Ron Paul - 2008!

The 2008 election isn’t about Democrat versus Republican.

It is really a contest between sheep and wild geese.

Both sheep and wild geese like to dine on green grass.

Sheep need a shepherd to guide them to green pastures. The shepherd controls his sheep so that he can either fleece them or make mutton stew. The sheep are chased around by the shepherd’s yapping border collies.

Wild geese can find the next green pasture on their own. The wild geese poop on the shepherd’s head and elude his collies as they take flight to fly in a V for victory formation with the Ron Paul blimp.

The cackling of the wild geese is rising in a deafening crescendo as they prepare to darken the skies and blot out the sun on the coming election days to vote for Ron Paul. They will manage this phenomenal feat without air traffic controllers (the FAA could learn a thing or two from these wild geese.)

They have a tried and true flight plan, the U.S. Constitution.

In the Miami debate, Ron Paul showed us he is the wildest of the wild geese. A few loud boo’s can’t knock him off course.

He will be as great a President as Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln served only 1 term as a congressman before winning the Presidency. Paul has served 10 terms as a congressman.

I think he will be 10 times as great as Lincoln. He will have to be. Lincoln had one major issue, slavery. Paul has at least 10 major issues: national bankruptcy, overextended military, energy shortage, broken tax code, broken borders, crumbling infrastructure, sovereignty threat from North American Union schemers and the UN, restoration of civil liberties, an obese bureaucracy that has burst the limits of the Constituion, and failed foreign policy which has lost international good will.

I know he will have a lot of good help from We the People to pressure Congress and the Senate to solve these problems.

This beautiful and poignant allegory was sent to me as “The truth about Ron Paul.” Being a “Ron Paul Revolutionary,” I was certain when I opened the email that it was going to be a hit piece on Ron Paul. Instead, it made my wife cry. It also embodies the true essence of this revolution: It is an awakening in America as to our collective peril and the chance for Americans to stand up with one another, unite under the banner of rebuilding a future for our children and grandchildren where justice and freedom reign as a check against corruption and corporatist power politics. I would like to reprint this in the Dec. edition of The Idaho Observer with full credit to the author and source. Absent a comment to the contrary, I will just go ahead and do so in the spirit that we are all in this together.

There is no compromise when it comes down to the basic, to the foundsmental….like being honest….like your constitution that you (and all those so called politicians nowaday there) swaer to live by…..

Only after you accept the fundamental whole heartedly, then you can start to make compromises.

Politicains with no undestanding and no respects of the fundamentals (at least to be honest), are not qualified to mke compromises on our behalf…

To read: Person (or a**holes) with no understanding and no respects of the fundamentals (the least to be honest…) are not qualified to be politicians to make compromises on our behalf and that of our country.

We are a Nation of the People, by the people and for the people and not one of bureaucrats or banks, by the bureaucrats or banks and for the bureaucrats or banks. Its about time that we start to particiapte in the political process since our system of checks and balances is being hyjacked by special interets. The apathy of the public is due to the bought out media that often tells the public that the economy is fine when in reality it is only fiction. Lets hope our children do not wake-up homeless in the Nation that our forefathers conquered. Ron Paul is our only hope and if we are not successful then our Nation as we know it may be no more.

I have followed Ron Paul’s campaign closely and it’s given me a chance to look back on his record. I highly respect him for his integrity and Constitutional principle. I really hope this movement continues to grow. We need more men like him as our legislators. I believe we should all have a long term goal of being fair-minded and always digging for the truth. I believe that Ron Paul would agree that one of the most important things that everyone needs to have is an open mind and mistrust of governent.

Let me continue by saying that I believe that every politician should act based on integrity and principle and have a sound knowledge of the Constitution. Ron Paul gets an A+ for this in my book. However, I still don’t think that this article addresses the concern that it brings up about Ron Paul — that he hasn’t been able to change the government according to his ideology. Again, I support this movement very much but that doesn’t mean I think Ron Paul would make a great president. Along with principle, there is a need for leadership and practicality. He hasn’t shown me that he can implement his ideas. It’s better to get something positive done that may not be perfect than nothing at all. Now, I have to say that I would much rather have him as president than most of the candidates that are currently running. However, I do think it would be better to have someone who could implement positive change even if he doesn’t have the history of fighting for the Constitution like Ron Paul does.

For the sake of argument, let’s say Ron Paul won the presidency. Because of his inability to compromise would he be able to implement his ideas? Could he get anybody in either party to go along with him? Would it be a lame duck presidency? Would this movement then be worse off? These questions are impossible to predict but I do think that they are worth thinking about.

That’s why I support the Ron Paul movement but support Mitt Romney for president. I know Romney isn’t perfect. However, if you study his character closely, you will see he is a man of great character and ability. I would trust him with my children, my money, my life and the government. I believe anyone who is open and fair-minded, after having studied Romney’s life closely will see he is a great man. While I do agree more closely with Ron Paul’s ideology, I don’t think he has the leadership ability to affect much positive change if he were president. Folks, now is the time we need to stand up and stop that neo-con McCain and the socialistic Democrats from getting into office. Let’s continue with our fight for the Ron Paul movement of less government, getting rid of the Federal Reserve, getting out of the war in a practical way but I also ask you to think about the things I’ve said and look fairly and openly towards Mitt Romney. Don’t believe the media lies and character attacks from his opponents. Dig for the truth and find out for yourself about him just as you have for Ron Paul.

    Go Mitt Romney!

I agree with the Rev. Alan Ramirez that the leaders of the community also “have blood on their hands.” Many of the leaders in the Village of Patchogue, previous and current Mayors and the Village Trustees created an unlawful police force, which for the most part was aimed at violating the right of Latinos. For years they have had code enforcement officers who are pretending to be constables, who had no training in racial profiling and the carrying of firearms like Suffolk County Police. Thanks to a few in the community who have risen up against the Village, some of whom have won lawsuits, the Village of Patchogue in June 2008 gave up their guns and other pretenses that they are constables or police officers. Still, the Village is hiding all the hideous unconstitutional acts that have been committed over the years against residents and Latinos. For 17 years, they have maintained a fake constabulary and are hiding the real reasons why these fake constables were created in the first place, which was rationally motivated. Even though they lost a 2.5 million dollars suit and have a court order to disband their constabulary, they continue to stop motorist. I am a person working to expose the unlawful racist unconstitutional policies that plague Suffolk County. For many years the Village of Patchogue has gotten away with violating the constitutional rights of Latinos and working class poor, because other regulatory agencies, such as Suffolk County District Attorneys Office and Department of State, have turn a blind eye to these unlawful acts. As a Latina, I am glad that I don’t live in the Village of Patchogue, because I have attended some of their Village meetings and heard many officials in the Village of Patchogue take pride in how they have “cleaned up” their Village and how they are working on redevelopment programs so that they can have the “right neighbors.” They speak with pride and no remorse over their racist ignorant comments and because of the stereotypes they have about us, they don’t even realize that I am a Latino. At meetings they openly admit and gloat that their policies have been to get rid of illegal immigrants, which they feel the federal government is not doing enough about. For the most part the minutes are doctored so that the public will not hear anything objectionable. At other times, they are so blind to their unlawfulness of their statements they simply let the minutes go through. With few exceptions, they feel safe talking to an all “white” audience about their racist policies. These trustees are scary and dangerous people, who attempt to destroy anyone who opposes them. They feel invincible and believe that most of us are too apathetic, uneducated and powerless to actually do anything about it. They are wrong.

If only the shills in the media were this smart. Thank you for an accurate portrayal of the “villain” among Washington’s elite, but so loved among We the People.

Ron Paul’s presidential campaign in 2007/8 was quite extraordinary. It built momentum from the summer of 2007 and well into the summer of 2008, right up to time of the GOP National Convention, an event from which the Politburo banned Ron Paul. No problem. His supporters held their own convention, bigger, better and more liberating, just next door to the GOP’s flophouse.

This campaign is no different, except it is starting to feel like “February 2008,” but it is only the beginning. Hold onto your seats and do yourself a favor, follow the campaign closely. Never again in our lifetimes.

The problem is Ron Paul is running for President not congress. He will need to work with the opposition (including those in his own party) to get anything done. Based on his history he doesn’t work well with anyone who does agree with him. As a result we will have 4 years of total ineptitude and the country will suffer for it.
