Ron Paul Wins Straw Poll, Surpasses Fundraising of Both Giuliani and Romney
December 3, 2007
(Long Island New York) Ron Paul won the annual Virginia GOP retreat straw poll by collecting 38% of the votes. Fred Thompson managed to collect 23% while Mike Huckabee, who was represented by his wife, finished a distant third with 11%.
Virginia GOP Retreat Straw Poll Results were: Ron Paul 182 (38%), Fred Thompson 112 (23%), Mike Huckabee 51 (11%), Rudy Guiliani 45 (9%), Mitt Romney 43 (9%), John McCain 23 (5%), Duncan Hunter 19 (4%), Tom Tancredo 4 (<1%)
Several long-time Republican leaders including conservative icon Morton Blackwell complemented the Paul campaign on their strong organization and mobilization efforts, according to Ron Paul National Field Director Dennis Fusaro, who spoke on Dr. Paul’s behalf at the event. Fusaro went on to say that, while this reflects the organizational strength of the Paul campaign around the country, it is essential that Virginia Ron Paul Republicans replicate this turn-out on a county-by-county basis at next year’s mass meetings. Fusaro went on to congratulation the grassroots for, once again, coming out to support Dr. Paul in an unprecedented manner.
Ron Paul’s run for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination reached another milestone on Friday as it surpassed GOP opponent Rudy Giuliani’s third quarter fundraising total. With over one month still remaining in the fourth quarter, Congressman Paul has currently raised $10,449,365. By comparison, Rudy Giuliani raised $10,258,019 during the three-month period from July to September of this year.
Ron Paul has also surpassed GOP opponent Mitt Romney’s third quarter fundraising total. Mitt Romney raised only $9,896,719 during the three-month period from July to September of this year.
“This milestone is the latest indication that Dr. Paul’s message of freedom, peace, and prosperity is resonating strongly with voters across the United States,” said Paul campaign spokesman Joe Seehusen. “New money means new support.”
Congressman Paul also recently placed first in the New York Young Republicans poll, in Giuliani’s home state.
The Paul campaign has publicly set a $12 million fourth quarter fundraising goal, to be raised by December 31. Congressman Paul is also the first presidential candidate in history to make fundraising numbers publicly available in real-time.
Recently, Paul received widespread recognition for his record $4.2 million one-day fundraising haul on November 5. Over 37,000 citizens contributed in one single day.

My good lord, protect all those invested in liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness and give them strength when the fatigue of fighting for liberty bears down on them.

Research Ron Paul for yourself and decide for yourself. Your vote and contribution to the election process is very important. Do not allow the corporate owned media to tell you otherwise….

It is refreshing to read an article about Ron Paul with a positive slant unlike the majority of the mainstream media dismissing him as a joke. He is a man of integrity that leaves all the other candidates in the dust. There’s a reason why he’s raising so much $$ and it’s because he’s the real deal. He’s received the most donations than any other candidate from the military and appeals to a spectrum of Americans from Progressive, left-leaning types to Conservatives and would be a refreshing change in the White house!

Ron Paul has been dominating in the straw polls, debate polls, fundraising, web traffic and grass roots networking for a long time now. He is clearly a “top tier” candidate. I have gathered the evidence to support this statement and created a website.

It’s not about the money. Ron Paul’s grassroots support is leaps and bounds above all of the paid staff of the other candidates. That support translates into tens of millions of dollars in man hours.
Not only does he have more money from fundraising, he has more support in real boots on the ground efforts.
Yet the media dismisses him because the land line polls of people who voted for Bush last time favor the same old same old politician.
